The project is still under construction. We are already open all who would love to run historical data on a Wikibase. The software is bright, so much we can say after the first two years. We have grown above expectation and reached some 150,000 items, some with an unprecedented depth of database information. But the big step lies still ahead: In a joint venture with the German National Library we are working on an input of up to 10 million GND (and Wikidata) records of persons, organisations and places. You might like to check our [https://blog.factgrid.de/ blog] to learn more about the aims. The present installation is by default in English. Anyone with an account can login and change the interface language to any other language (in the [[Special:Preferences|Preferences]] section). What is more important than the interface: Wikibase data can be offered in practically any language, if researchers do the adaptations. The ideal solution will offer a multilingual (Reasonator) interface, so that even users without an account can switch languages to their preferences.
The present installation is by default in English. If you have an account you can switch the interface to any language you prefer. What is far more important than the interface: Wikibase data can be offered in practically any language — not side by side but through the gift of data records that are the same in all these languages (our Items and Properties are presently presented in English, German and French; you can switch between these languages in the search results. We are planning to offer all our data records in multilingual (Reasonator) sheets in the future, so that even without an account you can switch languages to your preferences — one of the many milestones that are lying still ahead of us. But we are otherwise fully open and perhaps one of the most interesting platform you can chose to organise and to present data on.

Welcome!

— on FactGrid, the Wikibase instance for historians, Q17 on the global Wikibase Registry.

Looking at our central goals — to not only offer a free professional Wikibase installation but a platform on which researchers find a broadly developed landscape of data to work with — we are still at the beginning. The software is bright and cool, so much can be said after the first two years. We have grown above expectation and are presently working with some 150,000 items in a handful of projects, some in an unprecedented depth of database information. The more massive steps lie, however, still ahead of us. In a joint venture with the German National Library we are presently working on an input of up to 10 million GND and Wikidata records. You might like to check our blog to learn more about the project with its numerous facets. Visit the project section to meet the individual projects that have begun to use us as a cooperative research platform.

If you do not have an account yet - that is the first thing we should offer (but read our FactGrid:Terms of Service before you contact the technical coordinator).
