Die links der Weser gelegenen Grafschaften Oldenburg und Delmenhorst gehörten dem Haus Oldenburg, aus dem die dänischen Könige stammten. Seit 1667 deren regierender Graf Anton Günther kinderlos gestorben war, waren sie mit Dänemark in einer Personalunion verbunden. Also bis zum Vertrag von Zarskoje Selo (1773) Landsmannschaft gemeinsam mit den Oldenburgern ?
