Diss über Schopenhauer. Philosophy was important in De Hartog's thinking. He considered it inseparable from theology, since both strive for truth. He agreed with the thinking of Schopenhauer, Schelling and Eduard von Hartmann. In it he sensed a revival of metaphysics, which was neglected in his time and culture. De Hartog wanted to harmonize religion and philosophy were strongly inspired by Jakob Boehme . Both have published an anthology with quotes from this German Protestant mystic . [6] Nol de Hartog has made an important contribution to the popularization of a number of philosophers, whom he discussed in the book series 'Great Thinkers'. These included Spinoza , Kant , Schopenhauer , Fichte , Schelling , Hegel and Von Hartmann .
