Commentary

A letter from Aḫaḫa to her brother, Buzazu, concerning an interest-free loan (tadmiqtum) of 40 mina of silver, about 50 pounds (c. 22.8 kg). Aḫaḫa states that the silver from Kulumāya is not to be given to anyone, but sent to Assur in accordance with the testament. This can be identified as an event in the archive, which involves a number of other texts concerning the death of their father, Pūšu-kēn, and roughly dates to REL 104, c. 1870 BCE (middle chronology).

Translation

To Buzazu, from Ahaha:

In accordance with the testament you must not give the silver from Kulumāya to anyone there, and he must not take legal action. Let the silver be sealed and send it to the city to me. There exists an interest-free loan (tadmiqtum) on the 40 minas of silver, both my share and that in Puzur-Aššur's possession.

You must seal at least 10 minas of silver and open my eyes (i.e. show me; surprise me).

Make Puzur-Aššur suffer (?) [...] [...] [...]

Concerning Bēl-Anum who you wrote about saying: "Let him give you the tin", I asked him, but Bēl-Anum said: "I do not have the tin. I have spent it to cover the expenses for your paternal estate." You make the decision.

Why do you keep listening to slander? [...] [...]
