== Modeling the Grade Level ==
Having the school programm of Samson School for the school year 1877/1878 gives an outline about which student was in which grade at that time. To bring these data into FactGrid, at first the historical systems of counting grade levels at gymnasium in Germany with 6 and 9 years were brought into Factgrid. Following that we introduced the new Property [https://database.factgrid.de/wiki/Property:P1115 Grade Level] to connect these information with qualifiers abt start and end time (to avoid data objects for every single school year) and which school the information belongs to, to the students.

Solving the Dates

Within the students list the dates for admission and leaving the school are mostly recorded in the format "Michaelis 1874", "Ostern 1836" or "Johanni 1854". To solve these formats into machine readable dates we decided within this project to go with the following format:

  • Michaelis -> September
  • Ostern -> April
  • Johanni -> June

Data Connectivity

Matching with the Family Database "Juden im Deutschen Reich" happens via the identificators name, birth year and birth place. Only if there is a match of all 3 identificators, the database ID of a specific person is taken over into FactGrid. All other people are marked with Not noted: Family Database "Juden im Deutschen Reich" and the date of data comparison.

Modeling the Grade Level

Having the school programm of Samson School for the school year 1877/1878 gives an outline about which student was in which grade at that time. To bring these data into FactGrid, at first the historical systems of counting grade levels at gymnasium in Germany with 6 and 9 years were brought into Factgrid. Following that we introduced the new Property Grade Level to connect these information with qualifiers abt start and end time (to avoid data objects for every single school year) and which school the information belongs to, to the students.
