Am Strand von Saint-Cyprien wurde von 1939 bis 1940 ein Internierungslager betrieben, das offiziell Camp de Concentration de Saint-Cyprien (Konzentrationslager Saint-Cyprien) hieß. Fast 90.000 Personen wurden dort von den mit den großen Flüchtlingswellen überforderten französischen Behörden festgehalten
