Overall: Like Dr. Arbuthnot, Armstrong was primarily a physician, publishing a number of medical works and some poetry on the side. Unlike Arbuthnot, Armstrong published a medical treatise in verse, as well as an explicit sex manual in blank verse, both of which he claimed hurt his reputation as a physician with the public. Nevertheless, he died relatively wealthy, with an estate reportedly worth ?3000.
