We have numerous competing lists of Illuminati members, a complex body of basically secret internal lists, most of them comprised today in Volume 10 of the Swedish Box, but just as well external lists of insinuations, allegations and hostile exposures.

To bring them together on one level of "membership" is problematic — we are happier where we have documents of interactions that demanded a form of accepted membership. A particular problem is, however, the fact that membership itself was everything but a simple affair. The Illuminati did not have a simple application process.
